Problem:
A filter and strainer manufacturer in Germany was using a high-frequency welding method to join their belts together during maintenance. While the system worked and produced consistent splices, the process was time consuming and the unit was expensive to use and maintain. The company was searching for a more economical solution that would cut downtime.
Solution:
While looking for a solution, the manufacturer came across the Novitool® Aero® Portable Splice Press at a trade show. A customer visit was scheduled and the maintenance team was treated to a demonstration of the flexibility and capabilities of the air-cooled press. After working with Flexco to develop the correct recipes for each belt, the Aero Press was joining their belts in only 7-12 minutes.
Result:
The customer was satisfied with the results of the Aero Press. Despite the differences in belting, the Aero Press produced the same consistent splices as the welding method, but in a fraction of the time. The manufacturer was also impressed with how easy the Aero Press was to set up and use. The convenient carrying case was a plus, compared to the bulky welding machinery that was being used previously. The company now uses the Aero Press to join their belts.
